Merry Christmas!!!!

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year! I LOVE the songs, the movies, the food, the laughter and happy memories that the season brings. People also seem to be kinder and more patient during this time.

As the years have gone by and different circumstances have occurred, my level of celebration has changed, but I haven’t forgotten what Christmas really means. When I cannot taste the wonderful dishes (because I’m sick at home this year), or hear laughter, I treasure the beautiful memories that were created many years ago that still make my heart shine.

I watched my son open his gifts last night, and the wonder and excitement (and his gratefulness) made it all worthwhile. Are we as thankful today for what God did for us on that first Christmas? Jesus was sent here on earth in the form of a baby, a human! That aspect alone is a miracle, something that our finite minds cannot grasp.

The fact that Jesus willingly chose to go through what we go through (natural birth, growth from a baby into an adult) and went as far as dying like a common criminal on a cross is enough for me. All that gives meaning to my life has already happened before today. I am a believer in Jesus Christ because of what God did at Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you and your families. Enjoy the special times and memories with your children and other family members. Hug and love on them as much as possible.
Also remember those who are not as privileged; some are incarcerated, others are in hospitals, nursing homes or hospice. Some buried loved ones recently. Many are lonely today. If you know any of these people, please stop by and let them know that you care. It means a LOT when others know how much they mean to you.

Thoughts for Today (and Everyday)

Just a quick post to share with you:

God loves you. He’s not finished with you yet! No matter what you’re facing today, just know that He has You in the palm of His hand. No experience should be wasted. Anything we go through is meant to help someone else. Endure and come out victorious!

Understand that nothing happens in your life that surprises God. He knew you would be right where you are, right now. He’s not shocked at all, believe me. He loves you UNCONDITIONALLY. This means that you cannot do ANYTHING to earn His love. That’s right. NOTHING AT ALL. You only have to accept His love and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. 

Treasure your moments with family and friends because all too soon it becomes just a memory. (Trust me on this one.) Hug often. Tell them you LOVE them. Do not be ashamed to say this to parents, cousins, siblings, friends, etc. 

Take your relationship with God SERIOUSLY. Your relationship with God should be the MOST important relationship to you, like your air that you breathe. Don’t be super-deep and spooky, just be serious about your relationship with Him. He longs to speak to you and to show you things that you didn’t know or understand before. Get in His Word more (I’m speaking to myself here as well). Pray. Meditate. WORSHIP. Thank Him. Tell Him you love Him.

Make your life a daily profession and confession of your relationship with God. Without preaching a sermon, others should be able to tell that you are DIFFERENT. 

And remember THIS: We’re not perfect, we’re REDEEMED. AMEN!

Guests At The Party

Hopefully you’ve had the chance to attend at least one really good party, one that has a lot of pleasant memories.

Just imagine with me: You walked into the best party you’ve ever been to, and you found most of the guests (in their gowns and tuxedos) serving other guests, cleaning up spills and doing things they should not have to do during an event to which they were invited.

How much different is that from us? We have walked into the best Party ever, hosted by the King of kings and Lord of lords. He has placed us at his banqueting table of love. But when He turned His back for a moment, we got up and began cleaning up the room and taking away used napkins, etc. As He turned back around from what He was doing and found us in this frenzied, unnecessary activity (the activity of worry, unnecessary planning to “make sure” something works), He frowned at us in displeasure, but gently reminded us of this:

We are the Guests at this banquet! Why are we taking on the role of paid waitresses and waiters? Why can’t we accept that God did ‘all of this’ for our redemption? For our healing and deliverance? For everything we need for both now and later?

Trust is the key to believing that all God promised is true and MUST come to pass! Believe that you will receive and you shall have it.

So, put the napkins down and rest the used utensils aside.

God has called YOU to His banqueting table. You are one of the Guests of Honor, so why concern yourself with the things that only the Host should be concerned about?

Why do you allow your troubles to force you to step in and attempt to ‘help’ God out all the time? He doesn’t NEED our help! When we think we’re cleaning up and ‘helping out’, we’re actually making a bigger mess! We’re taking on a role we were not created to do!

Really!

May God help us as we resist the urge to clean up,

A New Season

The song “It’s A New Season” sung by Israel Houghton and Martha Munizzi states “Fresh anointing is flowing my way; it’s a season of power and prosperity, it’s a new season coming to me”.

This is my story.

Since the end of 2010 until this moment I have experienced new things, some of which I cannot even quantify yet. New experiences. New results. New opportunities. As I walk through these new doors I am fascinated. The timing is perfect; I could have never orchestrated it any better. The line-up is impeccable. The mentors in my corner are absolutely amazing. No, I have not “come into big money” – not yet, anyway, but many of the experiences I have had are what I had only dreamed of in the past.

My advice to everyone reading this post: Prepare for the moment when all your tears will become smiles and all the “meaningless” work will become major projects! If you are single and want a spouse, prepare for God to bring you His best when you are ready and the timing is right. Be aware that when His best comes, you MUST be ready to adjust to receive His blessing. It won’t look like what YOU would have looked for.

If you are preparing to enter ministry or a new job (or both!), exude an attitude of gratefulness, humility and faith. God is an AMAZING God but He will not be rushed into anything. None of us should ever think that we can push God to work on our behalf earlier than the time He has ordained to be YOUR time. And don’t forget to thank Him every time a door opens or an opportunity presents itself!

Keep your face in the books. Study the Bible, read inspirational books from experienced authors and really get to know God. It’s one thing to read about what God can do versus living it out for yourself and KNOWING that He can do it.

Pray, fast, meditate, reflect, sing songs of worship unto God and love Him for Who He is to you. Try not to ask Him for too much……

Serve others. Serve those who you think “should know better”. Serve the seniors. Love them even when they forget your name. Spend time with those who do not have the blessings that you have.

Keep doing the things that God has called you to do and that He has blessed you to be. Don’t wait for accolades from people to set the example and to follow-through with what God has placed within you.

All these things will help you to prepare for BREAKTHROUGHS! As you serve, worship, love, give and care, watch Him WORK on your behalf!

Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

Today we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., a man who dared to believe that non-violent protests against the segregation and mistreatment of Negros (now called African-Americans) would change the way they were treated. I began to reflect on what Martin Luther King Day means to me.

My reflections started when my son asked me a question earlier: “Mommy, why do you always care so much about what others do or what happens to others? To me that’s like minding someone else’s business.” So Mommy (that’s me) thought hard about what my son said. “Is it really so? Is it really someone else’s business?” I had to ask myself the question before I answered him.

Life Moves On

Hebrews 12: 1 & 2 (NIV): “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

The Journey Begins, One Step At A Time (Oct 2009)

I started on a new journey 4 years exactly, almost to the date. I remember my nervousness as I packed my things and those of my son and made a quick exit on a rainy fall night. I was nervous because it seemed crazy to those who were outsiders looking in that I would leave what seemed like a perfect situation. But those who lived inside knew that it was only a facade. Very little was real aside from the fact that we were human beings using our correct (“government”) names.
